Jirsch Sutherland appoints Philip Ascher as new QLD Business Director

Jirsch Sutherland, one of Australia’s leading insolvency practices, has appointed Philip Ascher CPA as a Business Director of its Brisbane office.

Philip has a diverse industry background, most recently working as an insolvency manager with Vincents. “Since getting involved in the insolvency sector, I have never looked back,” he says. “It’s the most suited profession I’ve ever had. I pride myself on my ability to quickly understand my clients and help them to navigate difficult times to achieve a successful outcome.”

Philip has experience in corporate and personal insolvency with proven strength in financial analysis and modelling with an emphasis on cash-flow, liquidity and overall solvency. He has worked across a range of industries including retail and wholesale, hospitality, manufacturing, transport and warehousing, construction, insurance, farming and agriculture and real estate.

“I am a real generalist and over the past eight years I’ve worked with a wide range of companies and individuals suffering financial distress or failure, helping them navigate the multitude of complex legislations,” he says.

Another key area of focus for Philip will be helping provide education to accountants about the different aspects of insolvency. “I believe there’s a fundamental lack of understanding about the function and benefits of insolvency practitioners. I’m keen to provide more information about the benefits of the insolvency regimes,” he says. “It’s vital to be able to walk in the door of an accountancy firm and explain why and when to appoint an insolvency professional. An open flow of information and educational material is very important.”
