Joining the conversation during Mental Health Month

There were plenty of conversations this month – Mental Health Month – when we held our inaugural seminars and Walk & Talk tours in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane and Newcastle. And they were a great success!

Thanks to the wonderful speakers from Beyond Blue who captivated the audiences, made up of clients, referrers, small business owners and our own staff members. They provided excellent tips on creating mentally healthy workplaces. Sydney attendee, Jo Wong of Zhi Holistic Kinesiology says, “I found it great. Extremely insightful and lots of free resources available.”

White t-shirt-clad walkers and talkers took to the streets of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth on Thursday October 10 – World Mental Health Day – for Walk & Talk lunchtime ‘netwalking’ tours (Newcastle’s Walk & Talk event is taking place on Friday October 18). This year’s theme for Mental Health Month in Australia is Do you see what I see? and it’s designed to challenge perceptions about mental illness and help reduce stigma. Walkers made a #mentalhealthpromise before hitting the streets to soak up the sun, fresh air and city sights including the iconic Sydney Opera House forecourt and Perth’s panoramic Elizabeth Quay on the Swan River.

And as Beyond Blue’s Linda Sheahan, who spoke at the Sydney and Newcastle seminars, suggests, keep the R U OK? and Beyond Blue posters up all year to show your support for each other.
